History

Cynical Violet was the very first website I had created and it's been around since 2007. At that time I really wasn't sure what was the purpose of my site. So I began using my site as a blog(?) as an excuse to use the nice free anime layouts at Celesital Star and Aethereality. Around the same time I began collecting doujinshi and in early 2010 Cynical Violet became a doujinshi collection site. Since then I had changed servers several times from Freewebs to FC2 and back to Freewebs. In 2012 I moved to Fc2 due to the lack of space at Freewebs when my doujinshi collection started expanding. However, in 2015 I realized that although FC2 offers more bandwidth and web space there were some limitations. I could not work on several pages at the same time and I had to manually input my meta tags and scripts in the header every time I edited a page. Furthermore, the automatic FC2 footer greatly obstructed my layout designs and the url address was way too long. So I found that although Freewebs does not offer the same amount of bandwidth and web space there was a way around it. Thus, I decided to move back. However, 6 months later webs froze my account due to who the hell knows, maybe for more webspace since I know many of whom were in similar situations all due to webs getting rid of members free accounts. :P That is why I moved my collection site to my main website, which I should have done sooner.:P

Layout

Version5.0: Midnight Lovers ~ 2010-2012 -Type: DIV Layer/Table/Pop-Up-

Here's my old layout from Freewebs. I really loved the design, but it didn't leave enough space to display my doujinshi. :( As for my previous layouts they all got deleted since at that time I was still learning basic html coding, so most of my older layouts were created using frames and tables. I'm pretty impressed that this was my first time (self taught) using DIV layers. This was the most complicated layout I've ever worked on because I had to use absolute positioned stacked layers(?) for the bottom banner to prevent it from sliding.

Version6.0: Ocean Size Love ~ 2011 -Type: DIV Layer-

I used this layout for a short time, I don't think it ever lasted a month.^^;; I liked the design especially the banner, but I didn't like the endless scrolling. :P I did try making it bigger, but then I had to fix the header image. In the end I just created a new simple layout with a simple header image, which you can see is right below this one.^^

Version7.0: Twins ~ 2012-2013 -Type: DIV Layer-

This layout only lasted a year. I liked the design since it was very simple in comparison with the ones before. But I needed more space and I thought Cynical Violet needed a new look since this place will no longer be solely for my doujinshi collection. Sadly, that really never happened because life got in the way, so it's still just a doujinshi collection site.:P

Version8.0: Cedar/Circus ~ 2013-2014 -Type: DIV Layer-

I made this layout in the summer of 2013 (June) and it lasted up till the spring of 2014 (March). At first I really liked the design, probably because it was so spacious, but overtime it just got boring so I changed the header image several times. The header image you see now is the last one I used before switching to a new layout. :D BTW this is the 1st layout I made without purple as the background. I wanted dark design that wasn't too bright on the eyes. :0

Version9.0: Rainflower ~ 2014-2015 -Type: DIV Layer-

It was fun making this layout and I ended up liking it more than I thought. The only problem with this layout or more like how fc2 displayed the footer. I had initially planned to have the footer be placed at the bottom of the page, however fc2 automatic footer kept pushing the footer up causing it to have a gap between the layout and the edge of the bottom screen. In the end I removed the background color, which made it look ugly, but the gap bothered me much more. :P

Version10.5: Melody of the Rain ~ 2014-2015 -Type: DIV Layer-

There are 2 different versions of this web layout, but I no longer have the design of the original layout. Looking back now the original layout was much better in design, but the 2nd version is more user friendly.

Version11: ALICE ~ 2015 -Type: DIV Layer-

This layout was the alternate version of my Polly Seeds Network layout design. I liked the original design so much, that I wanted to create a similar design for my doujinshi site. However, it became boring over time since the two sites looked the same so I sought for more originality for the next layout project.

Version12: Twin Stars ~ 2015-2016 -Type: DIV Layer-

Two words: simple & user-friendly.

Version13: Guardian ~ 2016 -Type: DIV Layer-

This time I was trying to go for the simple Wordpress feel with pretty graphics. I'm very pleased with the result; it turned out lovely, more than I had expected.
